Air France Expands Flights to Fortaleza: Strengthening the Bridge Between France and Brazil

Air France has announced a major expansion of its operations to Fortaleza, one of Brazil’s most vibrant and sun-soaked destinations. Starting in the winter 2024–2025 season, the French flag carrier will increase its Paris–Fortaleza route from three to five weekly flights, underscoring the growing demand for travel between Europe and Brazil’s northeast coast.

This decision comes as part of Air France’s broader strategy to boost its presence in Latin America, where Brazil continues to stand out as a top-performing market. According to the airline, demand for leisure and business travel between France and Brazil has surpassed pre-pandemic levels, with average load factors exceeding 90%.

A Rising Gateway to Brazil’s Northeast

Fortaleza, capital of Ceará state, has increasingly positioned itself as a strategic gateway for European travelers heading to Brazil. Its geographical location—closer to Europe than other major Brazilian cities like São Paulo or Rio de Janeiro—reduces flight time and allows for smoother operations. With its turquoise beaches, strong tourism infrastructure, and growing economy, Fortaleza is attracting not only vacationers but also investors and digital nomads looking for an authentic Brazilian experience.

Air France’s upgraded service will operate from Paris-Charles de Gaulle (CDG), utilizing the modern and fuel-efficient Airbus A350 aircraft. The additional flights will provide travelers with more flexibility in departure days and improved connections to and from Europe, while also enhancing cargo and tourism links between France and northern Brazil.

Strengthening Regional Connectivity

Beyond the direct Paris–Fortaleza connection, Air France will also inaugurate a new route between Fortaleza and Cayenne (French Guiana) beginning April 2025. This link creates a unique triangle connecting French territories in South America with Brazil’s northeastern region, opening up fresh opportunities for trade, tourism, and cultural exchange.

Furthermore, Air France continues to deepen its partnership with GOL Linhas Aéreas, enabling passengers to connect seamlessly from Fortaleza to over 40 destinations across Brazil, including Salvador, Recife, Natal, Manaus, and Belém. This partnership reinforces Fortaleza’s role as a secondary hub for international arrivals who wish to explore Brazil beyond its largest metropolitan areas.

A Boost for Brazilian Tourism

The increased frequencies represent a significant win for Brazil’s tourism sector, particularly for the northeastern coast, which is home to some of the country’s most spectacular beaches, kitesurfing hotspots, and ecotourism attractions. Local authorities in Ceará expect this expansion to further stimulate international arrivals, hotel occupancy, and tourism revenue throughout 2025.

For travelers, the expanded schedule means more opportunities to find competitive fares, easier connections via Paris to the rest of Europe, and greater convenience when planning multi-destination Brazilian itineraries.

Book and Explore

Travelers can now book their flights through Air France or partner agencies such as Brol.com, which specialize in Brazil-focused itineraries and multi-city airpasses. Whether flying for leisure, business, or exploration, Air France’s strengthened service to Fortaleza makes it easier than ever to experience the beauty and culture of Brazil’s northeast.
