Avianca is expanding its route to Brazil, so people from Colombia and Brazil can connect more easily. Starting on March 26, Avianca will fly between Bogota’s El Dorado International Airport and Belo Horizonte’s Confins International Airport.

Avianca’s newest route

Avianca has been increasing its connectivity to Brazil in the last few months. Earlier this month, the new Bogota-based airline launched its first international route of the year between Cartagena International Airport and São Paulo Guarulhos International Airport. This is a great development, as it makes it easier for travellers to get to Brazil. This strengthens Avianca’s presence in Brazil, which is one of the carrier’s key markets. On the same week, both Avianca and Cartagena International Airlines sent different international routes from Cartagena to Santiago de Chile International. We will discuss this later.

Avianca announced on Wednesday that it will begin flights to Belo Horizonte, the capital of the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais. These operations will begin on March 26. Avianca will deploy an Airbus A320 family aircraft with a capacity of 180 passengers.

Avianca will provide five flights a week on three different plan. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, and Sundays will see departures from Bogota. The airline plans to launch flights from Bogota to Manaus International Airport in March. This will make it much easier for travelers to get to South America’s largest city.

Strengthening Avianca’s international connectivity

Avianca is planning to increase its reach around the world, and one of the ways it plans to do that is by starting new non-stop routes from Colombia. This will make it easier for people in Brazil to travel to Colombia and other parts of the Americas.

Gustavo Esusy, Avianca’s commercial manager for Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, and Uruguay, said that the company had a period of consolidation in Brazil in 2022.

The Belo Horizonte-Bogotá route is one of a series of new Avianca flights announced for 2023. On March 27, a direct flight from Manaus will begin connecting the two cities. We’re excited to announce that by April, the airline will have five routes between Colombia and Brazil! This will provide travelers with more options and make traveling between the two countries easier and more convenient. Additionally, it will fly from Bogota to Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.

Avianca’s ultimate goal in Brazil is much more than just announcing new routes. What the company is really looking to do is help grow the Brazilian aviation market, which could benefit travelers of all kinds. In 2022, Avianca and Brazilian airline GOL Linhas Aéreas announced the launch of the Abra Group Limited, a joint venture that will create new jobs and support the growth of the Brazilian aviation industry. If this deal goes through, the company will own these carriers, Sky Airline from Chile, and Viva from Spain. They will also own a small stake in Chile’s Sky Airline.

Even though Abra has added two more airlines to its group, it has not yet been approved by regulators. The addition of Avianca and Viva was dependent on the approval of the merger of those two airlines. This week, the Colombian government changed its position and is now considering the proposal to merge the two carriers again. This means that the integration process could be completed soon.
