Azul Airlines has officially launched its new direct route connecting Recife, Brazil to Porto, Portugal, marking another significant step in its international expansion. The inaugural flight took off this June, offering travelers a convenient, non-stop connection between northeastern Brazil and northern Portugal.

This new service enhances connectivity between two culturally rich cities, both of which share strong historical and economic ties. The route will operate three times a week using the Airbus A330neo, providing a comfortable experience with Azul’s well-regarded in-flight service and modern entertainment system.

For Brazilian travelers, Porto offers easy access to the scenic Douro Valley, world-renowned wines, and UNESCO-listed architecture. Meanwhile, Portuguese travelers now have a faster route to Recife’s sunny beaches, vibrant culture, and as a gateway to explore Brazil’s northeast.

The move supports Azul’s strategy to strengthen Recife as an international hub, while diversifying Brazil’s outbound travel options beyond São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro. It also demonstrates growing demand for leisure and family travel between Brazil and Portugal, fueled by tourism, business, and shared heritage.

Travelers can now book tickets directly on Azul’s website, opening a new chapter in transatlantic connectivity and enriching travel opportunities between South America and Europe.
