When the Copacabana Palace opened in 1923, it was the first luxury hotel in South America.

The famous Copacabana Palace is a 5 star luxury hotel in Rio de Janeiro. 
Its location is beyond privileged, in Copacabana Beach, the most famous 
beach in Brazil, offering breathtaking views.

The iconic Rio hotel, belonging to the Belmond group, is 
synonymous with luxury and exclusivity. When thinking about

Opened in 1923, it was designed by the architect Joseph Gire who was
 inspired by two hotels, the Negresco of Nice and the Carlton of Cannes.
 Since its inauguration, the hotel has only three owners, the Guinle family
 from Rio de Janeiro, the Orient-Express Hotels and now the Belmond.

There are two buildings, called the Annex Building and the Main Building. 
There are 241 apartments and suites in total. There are 145 accommodation
 units in the Main Building, of which 71 are suites and 76 are apartments. 
The annex building contains 56 suites and 40 apartments in total.

The hotel has undergone major renovations since 2012. Once you arrive,
the classic, beautiful and luxurious lobby already attracts attention. 
On the left the Concierge and to the right, in the background,
the reception. This space did not exist in the past and the renovation
made the environment more spacious, pleasant and beautiful.
