Azul Airlines and the United Airlines announced today a strategic long-term partnership in which the US Company has invested $ 100 million for 5% of the economic value of the Brazilian airline. The investment includes code-share agreement in which the companies will share routes in the United States and other destinations worldwide. This agreement is subject to approval of ANAC (Agência Nacional de Aviação Civil) and the Board of Administration of Economic Defense (Cade).

In addition, United now has a member on the Board of Directors of Azul, which will promote, according to the companies, exchange of best practices, evaluation of opportunities for synergies and strategic initiatives. The partnership between United and Azul facilitate the access of Brazilians to various destinations in the United States and other countries served by the US Company.

“This will be very good for our customers. With this partnership they can go from Santos Dumont to Chicago or from Porto Alegre to Las Vegas, for example. United is one of the largest and best companies in the world, “says the founder and CEO of Azul Linhas Aéreas, David Neeleman.
