LATAM Airlines has begun selling tickets for its first flights operated by the Embraer E195-E2, marking an important new phase in the airline’s expansion across Brazil.
The new aircraft are expected to enter service gradually between November 2026 and March 2027. During the first phase of the program, LATAM plans to introduce as many as 14 E195-E2 jets and deploy them across 42 domestic routes.
The move represents a significant change for LATAM, whose Brazilian passenger fleet has traditionally been centered on larger Airbus narrow-body aircraft. The smaller Embraer jet will allow the airline to serve regional markets more efficiently, add frequencies on established routes and open destinations where demand may not justify a larger aircraft.
New destinations added to LATAM’s network
The E195-E2 will support the opening of four new LATAM destinations in Brazil: Cabo Frio and Macaé in Rio de Janeiro state, Ji-Paraná in Rondônia and Rondonópolis in Mato Grosso.
These cities had previously been served domestically only by Azul, giving LATAM an opportunity to introduce new competition in several regional markets.
The first announced routes include:
- São Paulo–Guarulhos to Rondonópolis, with daily flights beginning in December 2026
- São Paulo–Guarulhos to Ji-Paraná, with four weekly flights beginning in December 2026
- São Paulo–Guarulhos to Cabo Frio, with four weekly flights beginning in December 2026
- São Paulo–Guarulhos to Macaé, with three weekly flights beginning in February 2027
- Brasília to Ribeirão Preto, with daily flights beginning in February 2027
- Curitiba to Londrina, with two daily flights beginning in March 2027
- Curitiba to Cuiabá, with daily flights beginning in March 2027
- Porto Alegre to Campinas, with two daily flights beginning in February 2027
With the expansion, LATAM expects to serve 67 destinations in Brazil, the largest domestic network in the airline’s history.
More flights on existing routes
LATAM will also use the E195-E2 to increase capacity and frequency on several routes already operated by the airline.
Additional services are planned between São Paulo–Guarulhos and Palmas, Uberlândia, Cascavel and Uberaba. The aircraft will also support more flights between Rio de Janeiro–Galeão and Curitiba, as well as between Porto Alegre and Curitiba.
On some routes, the E195-E2 will replace larger aircraft, allowing LATAM to better match the number of seats with local demand while maintaining or increasing flight frequency.
The jet is also expected to operate from Guarulhos to destinations including Belo Horizonte, Brasília, Caldas Novas, Curitiba, Juiz de Fora, Maceió, Manaus, Recife, Ribeirão Preto, Porto Alegre, Rio de Janeiro and Vitória.
A new tool for regional growth
LATAM’s introduction of the Embraer E195-E2 is part of a broader strategy to improve connectivity within South America.
The airline group placed a firm order for 24 E195-E2 aircraft, with options that could substantially expand the fleet in the future. Deliveries were scheduled to begin during the second half of 2026, initially for LATAM Airlines Brazil.
The E195-E2 occupies an important position between traditional regional jets and larger aircraft such as the Airbus A320. Its size gives airlines greater flexibility to enter thinner markets, increase frequencies and develop routes gradually before introducing larger aircraft.
LATAM is already considering a second phase of expansion in 2027. Up to 18 additional Brazilian destinations are reportedly being studied, although the airline has not yet disclosed which cities are under consideration.
Passenger experience aboard the E195-E2
LATAM’s E195-E2 aircraft will accommodate 136 passengers in a two-by-two seating configuration, meaning there will be no middle seats.
The cabin will include Economy and Premium Economy sections, with as many as 20 Premium Economy seats available on some flights.
Planned onboard features include complimentary Wi-Fi for registered LATAM Pass members, USB-C charging ports at every seat and access to the LATAM Play entertainment platform.
Premium Economy passengers are expected to receive additional legroom, greater seat recline and an enhanced onboard service.
What this means for travelers
For passengers, the arrival of the E195-E2 could bring more direct routes, additional competition and improved access to smaller Brazilian cities.
Travelers who previously needed to connect through multiple airports may gain new nonstop options, particularly in the South, Southeast, Midwest and northern regions of Brazil.
The expansion may also improve the possibilities for visitors planning multi-city itineraries. As LATAM adds more regional destinations and frequencies, travelers could find it easier to combine major gateways such as São Paulo, Brasília, Rio de Janeiro, Curitiba and Porto Alegre with smaller cities.
LATAM’s adoption of the Brazilian-built E195-E2 is therefore more than a fleet update. It represents a new chapter in the airline’s domestic strategy and could reshape competition across Brazil’s regional aviation market.
