A Historic Brussels–Brazil Route Returns
LATAM Airlines has announced a new non-stop route between
Brussels Airport (BRU) and São Paulo/Guarulhos (GRU),
bringing back a direct air link between Belgium and Brazil for the first time in more than
25 years. The flights are scheduled to begin in June 2026 and will operate
three times per week, restoring Brussels’ direct connection to Latin America and
strengthening São Paulo’s role as a major hub between South America and Europe.
Three Weekly Flights Linking Two Strategic Hubs
According to the announcement, the new Brussels–São Paulo service will offer convenient
schedules designed to connect smoothly with LATAM’s extensive domestic and regional network
in Brazil. From São Paulo/Guarulhos, passengers will be able to continue to popular
destinations such as Rio de Janeiro, Brasília, Belo Horizonte, Curitiba, Porto Alegre,
Recife, Fortaleza, Manaus, and many other cities across the country.
The route is expected to be operated by LATAM’s modern Boeing 787 aircraft,
offering a more comfortable and fuel-efficient long-haul experience, with a two-class cabin,
lie-flat seats in Business Class, and upgraded in-flight entertainment and connectivity.
Why Brussels Is a Key Addition to LATAM’s Network
Brussels is not only the capital of Belgium; it is also one of Europe’s most important
political and diplomatic centers, home to institutions such as the European Union
and NATO. The new LATAM service is expected to attract:
- Government and institutional travelers heading to EU and NATO meetings
- Corporate travelers between Brazil and Belgium’s diversified economy
- Tourists connecting to Belgium and nearby countries by rail
- Members of the growing Brazilian community living in Belgium and the Benelux region
From Brussels, passengers arriving from Brazil will have easy access to cities such as
Amsterdam, Paris, Luxembourg, Cologne, and Antwerp via high-speed trains,
turning Brussels into a convenient gateway to Northern and Western Europe.
New Opportunities for Leisure, Business and VFR Traffic
The route is expected to stimulate demand in several segments. For leisure travelers, it
opens new options for combining Brazil with multi-country European itineraries. For business
travelers, the non-stop link reduces travel time and eliminates connections through other
hubs. And for the important Visiting Friends & Relatives (VFR) market, the flights offer a
much more convenient way to travel between Belgium and Brazil.
Brussels Airport and tourism authorities anticipate a positive impact on both inbound
tourism from Brazil and outbound travel from Belgium and neighboring countries to Brazil’s
major destinations, including São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, Salvador, Fortaleza, and the
Amazon region.
Part of LATAM’s Broader International Expansion
The Brussels–São Paulo route is part of a larger international expansion by LATAM Airlines
Brazil, which also includes new flights from São Paulo to Amsterdam and
Cape Town. With these additions, the carrier further consolidates its
position as the leading Latin American airline connecting South America to Europe and Africa.
For BrazilianAirlines.com readers, this new route means more choice and better connectivity
when planning trips between Brazil, Belgium, and the wider European region. As soon as
ticket sales open and schedules are finalized, Brussels–São Paulo is likely to become one of
the most attractive new long-haul options in LATAM’s network.
