Brazil’s domestic air travel increased by 6.7% in August compared to the same period of last year, even with increased capacity, Anac, the Brazilian civil aviation agency reported.
The carriers managed to fill 72.83% of seats during the period, compared with 68.65% in August 2011.
GOL captured 34% of the domestic market share, while TAM Airlines which recently merged with LAN to form the LATAM group, kept 40.5% of the market.
Azul, controlled by Jetblue’s founder David Neeleman took a 9.84% of the market with TRIP, which is in the process of merging with Azul kept 4.7%.
