Get ready to soar with Azul Linhas Aéreas! The airline is making a major push to capture the Brazilian summer travel market, announcing a significant expansion of its flight operations for the 2025/2026 peak season. With a focus on connecting travelers to some of the country’s most beloved vacation spots, Azul’s strategy promises to make holiday travel easier and more accessible than ever.
The centerpiece of this ambitious plan is the addition of 3,600 extra flights, translating to an impressive 520,000 additional seats. This capacity boost is specifically scheduled between December 13, 2025, and February 1, 2026, targeting the period when demand for leisure travel is at its highest.
A key highlight of the expansion is a new operation at São Paulo’s bustling Congonhas Airport. Recognizing the high demand for tourism from this major hub, Azul is strategically converting 45% of its corporate flights to leisure routes. This shift is a direct response to traveler behavior, aiming to funnel passengers from the business-oriented airport to vacation destinations. New routes from Congonhas will include popular spots like Foz do Iguaçu, Navegantes, Ilhéus, and Salvador, providing more direct options for holidaymakers.
The Northeast region is a major beneficiary of this new strategy. Known for its stunning beaches and vibrant culture, this part of Brazil will see a substantial increase in flights. Seven airports in the region are slated for a boost, with destinations such as Recife, Maceió, and Salvador receiving hundreds of additional flights and thousands of extra seats.
As Azul’s Senior Network Planning Manager, Beatriz Barbi, explains, this move is designed to “meet the high demand for leisure and tourism in the Northeast and to capitalize on the most anticipated season of the year.” By launching this bold operation from Congonhas and strengthening its presence in the Northeast, Azul is positioning itself as the go-to airline for travelers seeking sun, sand, and unforgettable summer experiences.
