Azul Linhas Aéreas has officially launched its new international route connecting Campinas (São Paulo) to Madrid, Spain, marking a significant expansion of the airline’s European operations. The inaugural flight took off this week from Viracopos International Airport, Azul’s main hub, offering passengers a convenient nonstop service to Spain’s capital.
This new route will operate three times per week using the Airbus A350-900, Azul’s most modern and fuel-efficient long-haul aircraft. The aircraft features business, premium economy, and economy cabins, catering to both leisure and business travelers.
Madrid becomes Azul’s third European destination, joining Lisbon and Paris in its growing transatlantic portfolio. The airline’s CEO, John Rodgerson, highlighted the strategic importance of the new connection, emphasizing the demand for direct flights between Brazil’s interior and Europe. “Madrid opens the door to even greater connectivity for our customers and strengthens our international presence,” he said.
The launch is expected to boost tourism and business travel between Brazil and Spain, and provide new options for travelers outside of São Paulo city. With convenient onward connections from both Campinas and Madrid, Azul aims to capture a larger share of the Brazil–Europe travel market.
