Latam to Start route Bogota Belem to compete with Avianca

LATAM Airlines is setting its sights on further expanding its robust South American network, with a notable new objective: a direct flight route between Bogotá, Colombia, and Belém, Brazil. This move signifies LATAM’s continued strategic investment in strengthening connectivity across the continent and tapping into growing demand for regional travel.

The airline has formally requested authorization from Colombia’s Civil Aviation Authority to operate four weekly flights on this route, utilizing Airbus A320 aircraft. This development positions LATAM as a key contender in a market that is already seeing increased interest, with Avianca having previously announced its own plans to launch a Belém-Bogotá service in late October 2025.

For travelers, this potential new route means more options and potentially more competitive fares for journeys between Colombia and the Amazonian gateway of Belém. Currently, LATAM already provides a direct link between Bogotá and São Paulo, making Belém its second direct Brazilian destination from the Colombian capital.

The timing of this proposed service is particularly interesting, as Belém is set to host the COP30 climate summit in November 2025. This major international event is expected to significantly boost demand for air travel to the city, and LATAM’s seasonal operation during this period (already confirmed) highlights its responsiveness to market opportunities. Beyond the summit, the establishment of a regular route could open up new avenues for tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between these two vibrant South American nations. This expansion underscores LATAM’s ongoing commitment to building a more interconnected Latin America.
