Royal Air Maroc confirms flights to Rio de Janeiro in 2027

Royal Air Maroc is officially returning to Rio de Janeiro, restoring a direct air bridge between Brazil and Morocco and strengthening links between South America and Africa. The announcement marks another important step in the growing international expansion of Brazil’s air connectivity as airlines continue to seek underserved long-haul markets.

The Moroccan flag carrier, Royal Air Maroc, confirmed that flights to Rio de Janeiro will resume after years of absence. The route is expected to connect Rio with Casablanca, Royal Air Maroc’s main hub, opening convenient one-stop access to destinations across Africa, Europe, and the Middle East.

For Brazilian travelers, the return of the route creates new opportunities to explore Morocco, a destination that has gained popularity thanks to its blend of culture, history, beaches, deserts, and cuisine. The flights will also make it easier for passengers from Brazil to connect onward to destinations in West Africa and beyond, areas that traditionally required complex itineraries through Europe.

The move reflects a broader trend of airlines rediscovering Brazil as a strategic international market. Rio de Janeiro, in particular, has been working to attract more long-haul service as international tourism to Brazil continues to rebound strongly. Direct international routes are seen as vital not only for tourism, but also for trade and business relations.

For Royal Air Maroc, Brazil represents an important gateway into South America. The airline already operates flights to São Paulo, and the addition of Rio de Janeiro expands its footprint in the region while offering travelers another entry point into Brazil.

The new service could also benefit Brazil’s growing tourism sector by attracting more visitors from Africa and Europe who can use Casablanca as a connecting hub. For travelers looking for alternatives beyond traditional European connections, the route adds an intriguing new option to the global map.
