Azul’s Board of Directors approved the formation of a joint venture with Tap, taking an important step towards the partnership that has been discussed since 2017. The proposal to strengthen relations and business with the Portuguese airline had been submitted to internal approval in early November.
“It is expected that, in perhaps six months, we will have the approvals to start operating,” said Azul Vice President of Revenue Abhi Shah. According to him, the company will seek authorizations from regulatory agencies to continue the process of approval of the partnership that provides for the joint operation of the air network that connects Brazil to Europe.
The VP of the Brazilian airline also revealed that, from 2020, the expectation is to open an international route each year. Azul also negotiates a partnership with United Airlines.
